Why to build a network
The ideas that joined us are the following:
- women are indispensable for the reconstruction of the social fabric and of the peace and development processes;
- gender inequality, which still marks the company but in different ways, direct and often deleterious consequences in various areas of women's lives, their health, education and their active participation in social, economic and political;
- the current economic development means that women everywhere continue to be subject poorest of all poor
- this implies that women anytime, anywhere, end up being victims "inside" of any form of violence, to the extreme of war;
- this situation not only hinders the progress of women, but developing countries themselves and the evolution of society, damaging both women and men
- beyond the official statements contained in international instruments and, although thanks to those women's organizations, much progress has been made for groped solve these problems, in practice there is still a long way to go in recognizing women equal access to services, equal participation in decision-making, equal pay for equal work, equal legal protection and the elimination of all forms of gender discrimination and violence against women.
It is very important to address this and be working together, creating a strong alliance between women.
Our goal was and is very clear: to create a collective of women and women's associations in order to exchange expertise and experience useful to do work that is common practice to achieve, even with the involvement of associations of immigrant women, programs to combat poverty and preserving the peace, through a shared reflection on gender violence during conflicts and in peacetime and the role of women in conflict resolution processes of mediation and reconciliation
